New Patient Center

Brook-Ellis Pet Hospital is aware of the vast amount of information available on the internet.  Our team has taken the time and evaluated the following sites.  We trust the information the listed websites provide to you, our client, and member of our family.

COVID-19 Update

Brook Ellis Pet Hospital, like many businesses big and small, is concerned with the unprecedented global challenges that we are facing due to COVID-19.  Please be assured that during this time of uncertainty, the health and safety of the BEPH team members and customers is our highest priority.

At this time, we are offering both in person and curbside phone appointments. We installed state-of-the-art antiviral units in our examination rooms. Face masks are encouraged, but are not required. If you are feeling ill at the time of the appointment, please reschedule it or request a curbside drop off appointment to keep our team members safe.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus

Rabbit hemorrhagic disease is a serious and extremely contagious viral disease of domesticated and wild rabbits. Since 2020, the RHDV2 strain has become endemic in California. Due to the high risk of mortality, we advise all rabbits (both indoor and outdoor) to receive the vaccination. We offer the Medgene vaccination at Brook-Ellis Pet Hospital.

Heartworm Disease in Dogs and Cats

Heartworm disease, or dirofilariasis, is a serious and potentially fatal disease. It is
caused by a blood-borne parasite known as Dirofilaria immitis, which is carried by mosquitos. In Orange County, we have seen a dramatic increase in heartworm disease due to the booming mosquito population. We advise that all dogs and cats take monthly heartworm preventative medication.

Leptospirosis in Dogs
Leptospirosis is a disease that affects humans and animals and is caused by bacteria called Leptospira.  Humans get infected through contact with urine (or other body fluids, except saliva) from infected animals, or through contact with water, soil, or food contaminated with the urine of infected animals. We advise that all dogs receive the annual leptospirosis vaccination to keep your entire family safe.
